Blog Journal #10

I actually really enjoyed working on this assignment! At first, I thought it was a lot of work for one assignment, but after I got started I realized it was pretty easy. It did take me a while to complete this project just because I kept having to start over. Other than that, I overall liked this assignment. I learned a lot about PowerPoint while working on this. For example, I didn't even know you could turn off the next slide navigation and have it follow your links. Next time I would like to just be more creative with the project. After I finished creating it I realized there was so much more I could have added to make it better.

I am not too sure how I will use data collection tools as a teacher. I think the most I will use it for is maybe going over a lesson and attempting to gain feedback afterward. I hope to teach 3rd or 4th grade, so maybe I will find a way to incorporate surveys into my teaching. Using data collecting tools was easier than expected, so maybe I will find a way for it to be easy for my younger students to understand.
I enjoyed being able to read over some of my classmates' blog posts. I was able to gain a new perspective on almost all of our assignments or learn new ways to go able one. Being able to see if another classmate struggled with the same project I did also comforted me a lot. I was worried a lot of the time because I thought I did an assignment wrong or just messed up, but I'm glad this class blog could help ease my anxiety.
So far I have completed five Tech-Flex challenges for this class. At first, I was not going to complete any, but I did for the alternative COE assignment. Overall, completing these challenges was surprisingly easy, and I wish I would have done more of them throughout this course. I still believe these challenges are a great way to get students even more involved in technology by giving an incentive after completing them.
I'm not too sure what next technological skill I would like to learn. I mean before this class I did not know half of what I know now, so learning anything would be great. However, I think I would like to learn more about data analysis. That topic is almost completely foreign to me, so I think it would be cool to learn more about it. I can also do more research on my own about this topic, or I might be able to find an introductory lesson/course to help me.

I've written a letter to my future teacher self/future self

  1. Hi Danyel!
I also loved the interactive powerpoint assignment. I did a Jeopardy game as well and thought it was so fun! It took me a while to get the hang of it, but after that it was pretty easy to navigate. Your Jeopardy game looks amazing, and I bet it was really fun to play!

  2. Hello!
Your PowerPoint looks so cool! I enjoy exploring things related to space and planets within the Milky Way so I would love to play the jeopardy. I also agree with you I have learned a lot through the assignments with PowerPoint, and the skills I acquired will be very helpful for me in my future academics and career.
Hope you have a great day!

  3. You also did Jeopardy!!! I love it! I am glad you also enjoyed working on the assignment. I imagine that we enjoyed it in similar ways! We both learned a lot about powerpoint!

I'm sure data collecting tools could be useful for 3rd and 4th graders somehow! Maybe you could use it to learn more about them, learn their interests, and figure out how to incorporate those things in your instruction?

Gaining new perspectives through the reading of class blogs was always something that was really cool! The blog format allowed for people to be more open about their perspectives as well!

I did not do any digital badges either! We do not need to feel bad :)

I think data analysis is a really cool skill you can learn and that you should pursue that!!
