Blog Journal #9

    So far I have actually really enjoyed this class. I have been doing this class completely online, and it has been the easiest class of this semester for me. All the assignments are decently easy and pretty straightforward so it's kind of relaxing to be able to work for this class. Even the assignments that take more effort to complete are still not as difficult as some of my other classes, and I absolutely love that. Also, I love how easy communication is for this class, I don't have to wait days or weeks for a response and that makes this class a lot easier too. When I'm a teacher, I hope to run my class about the same, I know how it is to have such difficult classes and not know what you're doing, and I don't want to do that for my future classroom. 

    Open education resources (OER) are educational resources that are openly available for teachers and students in order to provide help for teaching and learning. Academic Earth is a good open educational resource I discovered. As soon as one opens the website, the words, "Everyone deserves access to a world-class education" are shown. This website offers a numerous amount of courses and lectures for various degrees, majors, and is even connected to some highly credible universities. I think this resources is helpful to anyone stuck on any kind of learning material, and is a good way of allowing less privagled students learn.

    I think I have acquired a lot of new skills while working on this assignment. I do not like using PowerPoint, but I was able to figure out how to use it enough to add all of the elements needed for this project. I like the concept of this assignment, but it was honestly very hard for me to complete. I submitted it late, along with this blog post oops. However, making the presentation was not very hard, the tough part was finding out how to record myself presenting the powerpoint because my computer crashed in the middle of making it and my microphone wouldn't turn on.

    I am happy to know you are enjoying this class! I enjoy positive things.
    I agree that this class is my easiest (maybe second easiest after EDF), but it is not relaxing to me personally. I have a lot to do this week, and not a lot of time, so getting through the required work for this class today is going to be stressful.
    Our professor is wonderful at communicating, and I do really like her! She is both helpful and kind!

    I like your definition for OER and the source that you used. I do not know if I admitted it, but I also acquired a lot of new skills while working on this assignment. I also do not like powerpoint, and the assignment was very time consuming. The recording was frustrating for me as well! I'm glad I know how to do it though, that could be valuable in the future! :)

    Hey Danyel, great blog post! I have also been enjoying this class and like that it has been taught to me entirely online. For assignment four, I also found parts of it to be difficult. Making sure that all of the small requirements are present and functioning can be very tedious.

Fair use is a set of guidelines that allow people to use said materials for educational and nonprofit purposes. As a teacher I would just assume all material is copyrighted.       I do not have much experience using MS Word. I used it some during middle school, but soon I shifted to using Google Docs. I would prefer to use Google Docs really just because that is what I have used for so long. I know exactly how to use it and where everything is on it. I do not think using MS Word would be any harder, Google Docs has just always been more assessable to me.      The educator standard that is most meaningful to me would be to demonstrate cultural competency when communicating with students, parents, and colleagues and interact with them as co-collaborators in student learning. To me, this just means being away of outside or cultural effects that can influence life in a classroom , talking to others, or teaching. I think this is important because at least I have had some teachers that can be very oblivious to children having lives outside of school.
