So far using Twitter for this class is very different than how I would regularly use it. Since I am using it for educational purposes, I am mainly interacting with other teachers or people who work in the education field. For example, during the live twitter chat, I was able to interact with a lot of different people and it was nice to be able to get so many ideas and just heard everyone's own opinion about the certain topic. I think Twitter will be very helpful in my future career. Interacting with others on the app has already made me consider how I want to run my future classroom and interact/communicate with my students.
When talking about the digital divide, that is referring to the gap between those with sufficient access to technology and those without. The digital divide is very prevalent in schools today, especially consider how the pandemic has shaped all schools to using online resources as a main source of education. The digital divide can lead to students not being able to gain any new knowledge or information because of the lack to sufficient technological resources. As a teacher, I will most likely see the digital divide unfold in front of me. Not everyone has adequate enough resources to hold technology in their homes, I am sure I will have to conform and meet the needs on some students who do not have said resources.
Academic software is very important for future classroom. The upcoming generation of children are already so dependent on technology, and in my opinion this software will make it easier to retain attention and information. Some software tool I would like to implement in my future classroom would be StudySync and Flocabulary. StudySync is a program for any grade/skill level, the program has grammar and vocabulary exercises and allows teachers to track the progress of students. Flocabulary is a program with comprehensive videos and games. It also helps students build their vocabulary through reading passages and quizzes. I would use these tools with my future students because they seem to be great programs for teaching vocab and reading skills. Also because I suck at English and I am already not looking forward to teaching that.
I think that the badges are interesting. I think it is a cool way of giving incentive for certain assignments or actions. I have not earned a badge, I do not think I have been in an opportunity where one would be given. I am excited to see how this system looks going forward though!
I have never heard of the softwares that you introduced. Both StudySync and Flocabulary sound like great tools that I may use for my future class since I will also teach English. Thank you for suggesting new learning platforms, and I already make a note for myself to check out these tools.
ReplyDeleteHi Danyel! I also have never heard of StudySync or Flocabulary! I used a software in highschool called Membean that sounds similar to StudySync and I think it was super helpful. That sounds like a great software to implement in the classroom in the future. When talking about badges, I think it sounds like a great idea also- I just did not know about them before this class! Great work!
